Richard H. Lachmann

Mr. Lachmann graduated from the University of Hawaii School of Law and has practiced commercial, corporate, and real estate law and commercial transactions law for thirty years.

Prior to settling in Honolulu, Mr. Lachmann lived in Mukojima in Tokyo's Sumida ward with a three-generation Japanese family. After completing an intensive three year program of written and spoken Japanese at a Japanese language school, Mr. Lachmann enrolled in the Graduate Faculty of Law of Tokyo University as a research student in basic legal studies. He worked part time as a translator at an international law firm in Tokyo.

His understanding of Japanese culture, language, and law permits him to fit in comfortably in Japanese society. Furthermore, because he understands Japanese language, culture, and law, he anticipates the needs of clients when they come to Hawaii and is better able to address their needs and expectations. Mr. Lachmann regularly travels to Japan to consult with clients.
